    Source of the problem: WebBrowser or server-side?

    Hello people. Glad to see this forum is still running and still popular.

    I've got this old VB6 project with a webbrowser. It browses kijiji and helps me repost and organize my ads. I've recently encountered a problem when adding images to my post.

    If anyone wants to recreate the problem:
    Use webbrowser and navigate:
    http://www.kijiji.ca/p-post-ad.html?categoryId=86
    Go down a bit and hit the "SELECT IMAGE" button which allows you to add a picture to the ad.
    Browse for any picture and upload it.

    On my side, I get a never ending hourglass/loading circle. There's no way tp upload a picture. The thing is that this used to work good! I could see the pictures appearing as I was adding them.

    Anyone with an idea? Playing with script debugging options of IE (enable/disable), I can see some 'Script error' on some <long_filename.js> when trying to add a picture.

    Thanks!!!
    Chris

    As is so often (nearly the rule) for posts on webscraping, this violates that site's Terms of Use. Thus the thread is inappropriate here according to the Acceptable Use Policy you agreed to when applying for membership here.

    Kijiji Terms of Use

    Using Kijiji.

    You will post in the appropriate category or area and will not do any of the following bad things:

    •violate any laws or our Prohibited Content Policy;
    •be false or misleading;
    •infringe any third-party right;
    •distribute or contain spam, chain letters, or pyramid schemes;
    •distribute viruses or any other technologies that may harm Kijiji or the interests or property of Kijiji users;
    •impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure or interfere with the proper working of the Kijiji;
    •copy, modify, or distribute any other person's content;
    use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access Kijiji and collect content for any purpose without our express written permission;
    •harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including email addresses, without their consent;
    •bypass measures used to prevent or restrict access to Kijiji.

    Robot, spider or scraper..? I cannot make use of the technology to help me manage my kijiji posts? Please delete the last bit so someone with knowledge can reply. Thanks!

    I think you misunderstood the reply from dilettante. What he pointed out was that one of the rules of the site you try to access clearly states this:
    Code:
    •use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access Kijiji and collect content for any purpose without our express written permission
    If I have understood your question correctly you are trying to automate something, but according to the rules of the site you're using it clearly states that you're not allowed to do so. If they say that you need to do this manually, then it's against our own rules to give you any information about how to go around their rules.

    For that reason I have to close this thread. If you feel that I have done that for the wrong reasons you can send me a PM and if I find your argument appealing enough I will open this thread again. So please go about this in the above described manner instead of creating another thread with the same kind of question, because that will just force me to ban you, and I don't want to do that.
