    Angry GRRR! Windows Media Player...

    Why can't I play avi files threw Media Player?

    Everytime I try it says at the bottom 'Downloading codec...' and gets to about 30% downloaded, then craps out. It says it is an invalid format, but a few days ago everything was fine.

    That said, get the 3.11a codec, install, then the 4.0 beta codec, install, and apply the SMR patch overtop of that...i think..correct me if i am wrong.

    no problem, had that same problem before so I just found the right one...for more codecs, go to http://www.mpegx.com. there are some more but I'm too lazy to look for all of the sites that has codecs.

    WiMP (as I call it ) 7 sucks. WiMP 6.x was better than it. But after playing with WiMP 8 in Windows XP, it looks pretty cool.
