    In a nutshell:
VB6 was the last of the line known as Classic VB.

The next version of VB was VB.NET which is the current line. IT uses the .NET framework. The most current version of which is VS2013, FrameWork 4.5

It's confusing since Microsoft doesn't even call it "VB.NET" any longer. From about 2008, it's simply "Visual Basic", no ".NET".
    There's classic VB - VB1 to VB6 - and briefly "VB.NET" (VB7 and VB8), and then just "Visual Basic" (versions 9, 10, 11, and 12).
