Unexpected Arrival of Customer
I'm working on this particular database app for a customer.
I had it working great to show to him for a few weeks, then I found out he was away on holidays. So this morning I decided to work on it a bit, and improve it.
So I started chopping and changing code, rearranging this and that, redoing pieces of code, changing the way things happen etc.
About half way through this surgery, I get a phone call.
Hi Jamie, I'll be with you in about 10 minutes to look at the application.
ahhhhhh
So it was a desperate struggle to get it together.
Didnt work properly when he came in to look at it, but at least it did a few things that looked nice
God damn these customers

Most reasonable customers will understand things like this - if they don't see why us developers never like anything the way it is then they should learn to be one first

Ah yeah they understood, but it all just looked rather naff.
Go to view the next record and you get a RTE.
Add a new contact , RTE.
Try to make a report, RTE.
Update someone's info, RTE.
And if they had of only looked a day earlier
Ah well, at least I got paid in advance

Hehe
I nearly missed the millennium due to being totally wasted and just about managing to crawl onto VB-World
Also ended up singing down the phone to someone at about 2am
