Petition to bring back Windows 3.1

Please join my petition to bring back Windows 3.1.

According to some charts that I made up, 3.1 is used more now than it has ever been!

    Windows 3.1 100%
    Windows ME 50%
    Windows XP 1%
    Windows 7 1%
    Windows 8 1%

You may say to yourself "dclamp, thats 153%" You are correct. Because those are true statistics.

It took me weeks before using the mouse when I went from DOS to Win 3.1 .... Can't say that I miss it at all.

NO! I remember the tech store was always installing it whenever i went there for an upgrade (you know, a new 100MB HD or maybe an AdLib Sound Card) and i always ended up deleting it because of the useless space it occupied on my PC. DOS DOS DOS DOS! Bring back DOS 6.22!!

YOU are wrong. 3.1 is the greatest.

    Using a mouse... or 3.1?

When I first was training at my current job, I was discouraged from using my mouse. My trainer threatened to take my mouse away if I kept using it...

To be fair, the whole thread's bait. In the context of this thread Carlos is the shark below the waterline throwing burgers tied to bits of string at fishermen. Ideally I'd now post a Larson cartoon but I don't have one.

Re: Petition to bring back Windows 3.1

As i was very very young back then and i wasn't that stubborn (except deleting the w3.1 over and over and over...), it wasn't really what made me buy a mouse (and i wouldn't have bought a mouse because of windows, that would only happen when XP were released, if i have to buy a mouse solely on windows account), what made me get that dirty rotten was Lemmings by Psygnosis ! OH NO, OH NO,OH NO,OH NO, boomboomboomboomboomboommmm!!!Everybody has done that!
Anyhow, what is the use of w3.1? You couldn't even play games on w3.1. If it were a petition to bring back w95, that would seem more logical ( i would still have voted no, if i could find a no). W3.1 was just something that you installed so you would have the pleasure to delete.

This is step in the right direction, but it doesn't go far enough.
    Bring back MS-DOS 2.0!

    No stinking mice,
    No Fruity Icons,
No fancy speaker noises. (Just good old fashioned beeps.)
    Basic was Basic.

What made Microsoft think they could improve on that! Hah!

Actually, that's the first thing I do with a new OS install - disable all the stupid sounds. really, who thought that was a great idea? Oh, that's right...Microsoft Bob and Mr Clippy.

While going through Tech Training for the AF, we were learning ASM during one of our modules... a couple of us got ahead in our studies in class one day... use ASM to program the Empire March from Star Wars... we got tossed out of class for that one.

Wasn't the first time we'd gotten tossed out... wasn't the last time either.

+1 I still prefer my old(er) Royal manual typewriter. I tried using an IBM Selectric once... didn't care for it too much.
