Is VB capable of handling a transparent gif (GIF 89 format) the same way that a web browser does? What I need to do is to be able to create an image, whose background color changes with the system colors. Will a transparent gif work for that? If not, is there any way to do that?

When I try to move a transparent gif on a form it has a sort of blinking effect. Is there any way to get rid of this?

Are you using a picture box, or an image box? If you're using an image box, then change it to a picture box. That should help.
