program we all need
i have this idea for a good program. what it does it let you use the demo progarms longer than the normal 30 or 60 days. first it searches the registry for all the files. and whenever u add a demo to ur computer, it makes a second database of all the files that were added to the registry, and then you can select either some or all the files to delete. i dont know if this will work or not, or even if this is possible. it might actually hurt other programs than help you... i wont make this one, if i know it wont work, so give me ur views on this

That would be illegal, and hard to produce. An easier mechanism would be to change the shortcut of the demo program to your program, which will change the clock back to the date the program was installed, so in effect your still on day 1 of your trial, wait until the software has loaded, and then put the date back to the proper date.
But it's illegal and I do not condone the usage of such product.

Does not work
Most programs now don't use the date to keep track of how long you have been using the program. They only allow you to open it up 30 times or disabled buttons and so on. Your better off developing key generators for programs than go thru all that hassel.

That's true. To make a key gen however, you first need to know the programme's method of encryption. Unless you're a very good cracker, this will be very hard to work out.

hey...
The program you are talking about already exists, and there are tons of them, the name is 'uninstaller' !!!
Every uninstaller makes a database of all stuff that happened during an installation, so you can remove everything

where would it store the amount ot times eh?
A lot of programs use a hidden regitry value in the deep depths, CuteFTP can be cracked with just a reg value, and this was found because of programs like the afore mentioned
and just think, are they telling you its illegal to change your own registry? is it illegal to change your registry? NO!! so making the program isnt illegal, and the purspose is not nessecarly illegal, but it can be used for illegal purposes. take L0pht crack... that is a LEGAL peice of software as it has a LEGAL purpose.

It is illegal to circumvent the security features of a program, because (if the programmer's worth his salt) it is restricted in the license agreement.

...
how many times do you have to fix demo timers?
its not like you get several programs that you keep every day...
no one would want to keep a program like that sitting on their computer
and it probably wouldnt work for a lot of things
everyone should just learn to stop being lazy and go to astalavista.box.sk, deal with some porn ads, and fix it up in like 2 min like the rest of us
its not like you need to do it that often..
Cars don't have fur. Seals don't have fur eaither.
Cars = Seals
It is hard to hit a seal with a car.
