i just played through the demo..the first real misson..

graphics are awesome. the capital ships need to look a little more alive (like little lights) but still...!!

best space game since X-Wing Alliance..but its not as good as XWA..i think im gonna get FS2..whens it coming out?...or is it out already?

Ohhhh yeah! FS2 kicks major ass! I love it! Although I have a few minor beefs.

1. Maxim cannon OBLITERATES cap. ships from 3000 meters out
2. You actually have to hit DIFFERENT parts of a cap ship to kill it, you can't just keep pounding away at one part (although, this is kind of a good thing..more realistic)
3. SF Dragon
4. Command likes to move around a bit too much in his little animated thingy...
5. Your wingmen are sometimes amazing, sometimes it seems like a monkeybox is flying the ship.
6. GTF Erinyes has 8 gun cannons, when all you really need is 6 - anything else just drains power too fast. But it has LOTS of armor and good speed/maneouverability. GTF Myrmadon doesn't have enough armor, but has a near perfect weapon loadout. Life is full of tradeoffs.
7. Not enough missions where you get to fly the Mara
8. Doesn't quite capture the epic feel of battles involving a good number of cap ships as the primary combatants. I mean, the Colossus vs. Sathanas thing is great, but it just FEELS too scripted and fake...and half the time its all up to Alpha 1...Geez.
9. The Vasudan's don't have a real, heavy hitting dogfighter like the Erinyes. Although the Serapis is quite good, IMHO.
10. Damn escort missions...

Freespace rocks! The only thing s they have nothing like a space staton. They had only 1 in the first game, and they didn't care that I blew it up. And it had a big whole I could fly through These games are the best though. Hard thoguh. I like in the first mission of the demo for FS2 how you are in the nebula That looks great

It actually is. That's why it is officially called "Descent: Freespace" to avoid trademark infringement. Freespace 2 dropped the Descent name.

I have "friends" who play Everquest, and they lose all social interaction with normal people.

Look into Descent 3 (http://www.descent3.com). It is only about $15, $20 right now.

Yeah...but Everquest has that rep tag that isn't so great...too many people get totall sucked in and lose contact with the outside world. Watch out.
