Break me, hack me, kill me

Anyone wanna try crashing PassProg or finding bugs? Or hacking it? I'm working on version 2.0 and I want to kill bugs and security holes. Free registrations to anyone who breaks the encryption on the PPFs (PassProg files).

I don't want to be bothered with d\l PassProg, without finding a little info beforehand...
    What does it do?
    Does it just remember Passwords?
If you really want to make it a kick*** program you should have
it remember passwords for web-pages, and automatically log the user in when he\she navigates to the login page?

If it just remembers Passwords....it's no use to me.
Besides there's a million of these type progs out there, some being freeware.

It would be too hard to do the automatic entry thingy.

    Propoganda from the web site:
PassProg is a password manager for Windows that stores up to 32,767 "entries" (collections of usernames, passwords, URLs, dates, comments, etc.). Although PassProg is meant for storing usernames, passwords, etc., it can also be used for storing credit card numbers and any other kind of personal data. The data in entries can easily be copied to the clipboard.

"PassProg's intuitive interface is very easy to use. It comes with several p= ages of documentation to help, anyway. PassProg stores entries in "PPF" files, which are encrypted and require a master password to open and edit. PPF files can be created, opened, saved, printed, or exported to an HTML web page. All entries can expire in the default time of 30 days, a custom time, or never.

"Passwords in PassProg can be randomly generated, with options for controlling their generation, such as whether to include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and minimum and maximum password length. There are many options in PassProg, such as remaining on top of other windows, for automatically scheduling program updates, and for minimizing to the system tray instead of the taskbar. Other handy features are the ability to start when Windows starts, to stay on top of all other windows, and to automatically open the last file when PassProg starts. As a nice touch, there is a toolbar button for contacting the author directly via e-mail.
Attached is a screenshot (no entries) in the next post...

WOW, where can I get this incredible App....*shakes head dislodging Propaganda endorfins*
    Doh!!...Damn Propaganda strikes again..

Sounds good, but like I said there's other's out there that do the same thing and are freeware.
I would seriously look into a Automatic Login feature. That's what would set your App apart from all the others.

You know how these things work (word of mouth). "My Password keeper logs me into web-pages automatically". "Really mine doesn't.....where can I get one that has an Automatic Login feature?"

Next thing you know your sales would skyrocket......Ok..Ok they would increase moderatley. Still it's something to think about.

No, PassProg does HTML, Printing and multiuser support, which no other FREEWARE program does. Integrating with a browser is intentionally left out--IE and Netscape 6 do it already.

I will probably make PassProg 2 postcardware, though. I want some recognition from my users.

I'll check it out, but I wouldn't pay for it.

I already have a free program that does the same thing and fits my needs perfectly.

Wink NEAT! But i got one that does that already.

OK, the program looks cool. However, i have a program that does WebPages. It's called Gatpr. It works nicely (Gator Is free).
Gator also has NO LIMIT to the ammount of entries.

However, Gator dosent work with PROGS. I know, it will be virtually impossible, but i felt the need to give you something to get you to pull your hair out trying to do.

Oh, by the way, i would like access to a very specific snippet of code. How do you make any one form "stay on top"?

I am willing to barter in code snippets if you send it to me.

    Well, bye, for now.

The stay-on-top thing is nothing original, just an API call using SetWindowPos. Search the board for it.

PassProg has an internal limit of entries based on the size of the Integer data type (32,767, although some MSDN articles say otherwise). I think that's quite enough entries.

PassProg 2 will be free for personal use, but $10 per workstation for corporate, governmental, or education use.

    Downloaded it.
    It's looking good.

If I can crack your serial-generation algorithm will I get some reward, say $1000?

Well I don't know what SteveCRM did, but in the process of figuring out what he did, I did find all this:
    frmMain
    modMain
    modInternet
    frmGetPass
    frmAbout
    frmSearch
    frmReg
    modRegistry
    frmUpdate
    frmTipOfTheDay
    frmClipboardText
    frmOptions
    modMatrixSort
    frmEnter

I also found stuff like this:
    tcnMain_RightClick
    txtInfo_Change

    You used CallByName, didn't you?

You appear to have a folder on your computer where you like to store activex controls:
    C:\ARIEN'S STUFF\VISUAL BASIC PROGRAMS\[ ACTIVEX CONTROLS ]

It's all right there in your PassProg EXE.

I know you found all this out while I was typing this post, but I'm posting it anyway.

I know, seeing the path on my hard drive freaks me out. Stupid VB, why can't MS write a better compiler?!

VB's compiled code is very different than native code, almost all the code VB uses is inside the runtime library MSVBVMXX.dll.

Anyway, there's a screenshot of the insides of Arien's PassProg.
