Forum Pet Peeves

This things piss me off when reading the General VB Forum questions:

People posting with URGENT or EMERGENCY in their subject.
Database questions! There is a separate forum for them! USE IT!
I have not yet seen a single person use a naming convention for variables. Constants are in all caps and underscore delimited, LIKE_THIS. Forms are called frmWhatever. Buttons are called cmdWhatever. And so on.
People typing on one long run-on sentence so you have no idea what the hell they're talking about do you get what I mean they also use no punctuation so it makes no sense what they mean so you have to ask them again
Implicit variable declaration. Maybe they just forgot to copy the Dim statement when they copied their code, but it should be there.
Bumping is fine after about half-an-hour, and it practically guarantees a reply that's useful. Posting the same question several times in separate new threads is not okay. It pisses me off.
Rating threads when you did not participate in them or just to skew the vote.
What are your pet peeves for the forums?

Impatient people who bump their threads back up to the top really annoy me

I haven't posted a question in months, I certainly don't use "urgent" or "emergency"
Database questions! There is a separate forum for them! USE IT!
Yeah!
I have not yet seen a single person use a naming convention for variables. Constants are in all caps and underscore delimited, LIKE_THIS. Forms are called frmWhatever. Buttons are called cmdWhatever. And so on.
I do...cmdButton, frmForm, ctlControl, basModule, txtText, cboCombo, lstList...
People typing on one long run-on sentence so you have no idea what the hell they're talking about do you get what I mean they also use no punctuation so it makes no sense what they mean so you have to ask them again
Uh huh
Implicit variable declaration. Maybe they just forgot to copy the Dim statement when they copied their code, but it should be there.
Damn right!
Bumping is fine after about half-an-hour, and it practically guarantees a reply that's useful. Posting the same question several times in separate new threads is not okay. It pisses me off.
No, half an hour is not long enough at all. Several hours...
Rating threads when you did not participate in them or just to skew the vote.
Don't care, only chit chat ones get rated by people anyway.

You should wait until a thread has hit the second page before you bump it to the top. Or if it's been sitting in the middle of the first page for a day or so.

Why can't I rate a thread that I didn't participate in?

Say I have a question. I search and find that three other people asked that question and got three different responses. I find the one with the best response and vote it up. It helped me, but I never had to post.

*shrug*

Just makes sense to me, but I don't ever vote here at VBWorld cause it doesn't help any. I vote at PerlMonks.

Even more to the point (as chrisjk wuite rightly pointed out), who care's less about ratings in chit-chat (except for obviously Filburt).

Pet Peeves:

People who use this board as their own personal Bully Pulpit.
These people come off in a manner of: "Their way is the only way".

They also have this idea that this board is theirs, and try to dominate
the conversation with their views. Don't get me wrong there's
nothing wrong with them stating their postition on things, but when
they try to club people over the head with their views, opinions,
beliefs, etc...etc. It's just a little too much for me. At this point the
word "*******" is impressed on me, and I'm guessing others too.

What's that you say..........It's happening now. Well how Dare you
I'm one of the Cool Dudes , and too prove it I'm going to
end this post now.

I'm not the kind of person who would Bully you on anything.

What's this about Rating Threads.......that's so Gay.

From the FAQ for vB:

...if you think that the thread is superb, you might rate it as a 5-star thread, or if you think that it's unspeakably dismal, you might choose to rate the thread with a single star.
You think that some threads are "unspeakably dismal", IUnknown?

Don't think Katie would...

From the posts she's made she sounds like a sensible person with a sense of humour.

Unlike..........you

I have a sense of humor when I'm not pissed off.

Anyway, screw it, I'm not participating in this thread anymore. I'd lock it if I could

My pet peeves on the forum are:

1. People who don't agree with everything I say
2. People who don't spend enough time telling me I'm great
3. People who are cleverer than me
4. People who are younger than me

Don't get me started on people who are younger and cleverer.

But he's not a woman so how does that work?

I'm sure if he tries hard enough he'll be able to wedge it in place somehow.
