    brasseye

So, what did everyone think of the notorious brasseye, shown on channel four on Thursday and repeated Friday?

Was it as bad as the media portrayed? Was it depraved and preyed on children, or did it show a strong satirical look at the media as the shows spokespeople claim?

You left out one description - hilarious and absolutley necessary for the evolution of television.

Tabloids need scandal to sell papers. Any of you that buy this rubbish deserve to have their emotions swayed like a sailors ballbag. People like Chris Morris are required to prove how much sensationalism is making a mockery of British moral standards.

The rest of the world laugh really hard at our backlash media.

I didn't see it but I think that Chris Morris can be very funny but doesn't quite know where to draw the line. The quotes attributed to the 'stars' makes you wonder whether they knew that they were being duped or not!

Satire is necessary. Being offensive is sometimes also necessary, doesn't mean that anything goes...

I thought it was really funny, but it would have been nice if the program supported abused children more. perhaps a message or a helpline at the end to show they werent poking fun at the subject.

Other than that, I couldn't stop laughing.

    Thumbs up Satire

    It was excellent.

I don't think something like that should be banned unless it actually encouraged or advocated the abuse of children.

It didn't so I thought it was fine.

The quotes attributed to the 'stars' makes you wonder whether they knew that they were being duped or not!
They were duped. Infact, Phil Collins is taking legal advice and is considering suing chanel four. I always knew he was a ****!

For those who were not lucky enough to have seen the show, here are some of the things that were objcted to:

    • A "paedophile" is imprisoned in stocks while a young boy is offered to him.
    • A "paedophile" is seen preying on young children.
    • A man released from jail is burned on a wicker phallic symbol by vigilantes.
    • The "presenter", played by Chris Morris, brings in his own children and locks them in a cabinet to signify keeping them safe.
    • A rocket is fired into space supposedly with paedophile Sidney Cooke on board. It is then announced a mistake has been made and in fact a young boy was shot into space by accident.
    • The former head of the obscene publication branch, Michael Hames, was asked to give his opinion on whether artworks were obscene or not obscene. These included pictures of naked adults with the heads of young children.
    • Capital radio DJ Dr Fox said that paedophiles were genetically closer to crabs than humans.
    • Comedian Richard Blackwood was asked to say "Online paedophiles can actually make your keyboard release toxic vapours that actually make you more suggestible".
After smelling the keyboard, he added: "Now I actually feel more suggestible. And that was just from one sniff."
    • Ex-footballer Gary Linekar explained that paedophiles used special text message codes such as the Baltimora. Linekar added: "This means I'm running at them now with my trousers down."
    • As the "presenter" questions a "paedophile" he uses an assortment of euphemisms for sex acts.
    • TV presenter Phillipa Forrester, holding up a T-shirt printed with a child's body, said: "Wearing a T-shirt like this the paedophile can disguise himself as a child."
    • Celebrities, including ITN newsreader Nicholas Owen and presenter Kate Thornton, condemn a fictional internet game called Pantou, which is supposed to allow paedophiles to get excited if a child logs on and plays.

Brass Eye has always cut close to the bone
The poeple complaining are probably the same ones who complained about Benetton using a new born baby in thier ad campaigns.

South Park can be just as bad, but the fact it is portrayed animated rather than a real documentary style makes it more shocking.

Would a similar thing shown animated recieve the same amount of press?
