I tried to draw a Mandelbrot set as part of my learning curve of graphics programming, only to be disappointed at run time, by the error message "your monitor does not support palettes". I get the same message with Julia sets.

I haven't come across this before...whats this palettes business?

Can anyone enlighten this learner please?
