OK, as most of you probably know, there have been constant protest against the new moderators lately. I want this to stop. John needs help in managing the forums, and although I do not think censorship is correct, annoying the moderators to death isn't either. I suggest all the people protesting respect the moderators. In exchange, the moderators get to know the people in these forums more carefully before they act. I'll remove my black avatar if you reach both sides reach an agreement.

(I think this thread is gonna cost me my neck)

Damn. Immaturity. Black avatars? What are you, Nazis? Geez, you guys don't even give them a chance. I mean, if you go off and start cursing and talking bad stuff, than yes, they will do something. But it seems as if you guys do it purposely. Martin is only doing what he is asked by John himself. If you can't stand the Chit Chat forums being moderated, why do you stay? Why not go somewhere else? Like get your own EZ-Board or whatever. Go use dimava's boards, I'm sure he'll let you do whatever you want there.

You guys don't see what John's point is in moderation of these Chit Chat boards are. Okay, notice how guests can view these boards too? Well, what if a guest comes along, and just reads the dirty stuff that goes on in Chit Chat, would he/she want to sign up? I can't tell you if the person would sign up or not, but at least if these boards are being moderated, they can help to stop the targetting of other people. People calling each other gay is nonsense! You all are acting childish! This is bs! All the threads about moderators? Has John done anything? No. Why? Because the moderators are here to stay! John needs help and he has chosen members that he can trust. He couldnt've just chosen random people that he doesn't really know and expect them to moderate the board appropriately. As John can't keep coming to these boards everyday, he wouldn't be able to keep checking up on his moderators everytime. And John doesn't want to look bad by choosing some moderators that are going to do a bad job, maybe make him look like a fool.

The moderators, as I am, are probably getting annoyed with all these stupid threads about them.

So accept what has happened! Take it like mature adults and quit all this crap about protesting and stuff, because they are here to stay! ACCEPT IT!

Matthew, there we won't let you do "whatever you want" because it's not a chit chat site... it's about helping people with their PC problems, so like here, there are rules. No cursing, talking about illegal stuff, basicly you have to fallow somre rules...

I'm saying this because I don't want everybody running over there and doing whatever... yes you can hang out there but there are rules there also...

i agree that these black avatars are going a bit far now, but i still support the fact that there shouldn't be a moderator in chit chat, even if i am accused of being immature (it wouldn't be the first time

), but just a small note to moderators, when you load up the main page and there are the links to all of the forums, in the column on the far right that says moderators, there are no names in there, is this because you are not online, or has john forgot to add you there ???

Yes, rules are rules, but Chit Chat is for chatting...and when you have adults chatting it invariably turns to something that some people may find offensive.

I wouldn't mind so much if we had a moderator that was FROM Chit Chat, as opposed to people who are barely in there.

I would like to point out a small problem with K being a mod. She ain't here on weekends, and she uses the comps at work. Were her access priviledges revoked for whatever reason that would not be good. We need someone who is frequenting the forums at any time and without consideration to bosses/IT Managers.

I don't want to say something that has already been mentioned, but I do want to take issue with John's selections.

1) Megatron: can't say fairer than that.
2) Aaron Young: The man is actually VB God, but he is conspicuous by his absence. I must have seen only 10 or so posts by him in the last year. Moderators need to be frequent visitors
3) Serge: Top bloke, but same situation as Aaron, and he also set up a rival to VBW...!!
4) Martin: Again, not exactly mouse-button happy around here lately either.

Also, they are all from north america (continent). That is a bit of an oversight if you ask me. We have moderation whilst America is awake, yet the rest of the time, the (probable) majority of us can screw about all we like for a good few hours before getting busted. Not too wise.

I'm not generally an obtuse person, but that certainly looks hypocritical to me!

I also suspect that labelling people Nazis is as moderatable as labelling people gay.

My first, and hopefully last post on this issue. Some big fat chilling needs to done on Chit Chat....

The Nazis were evil, horrible people who focused their hate on a specific group of people. Any one who spoke out against their hatred was persecuted right along with the Jews. They didn't have any concept of freedom of speech or independent thought. They thought they were very evil concepts.

By telling people to shut up or calling them Nazis because they are voicing their opinions you are showing that you need to learn a little more about the atrocities that can happen when people are forced to do just that!!!

As a Jew, I'm sure you have a clear understanding of the horrors of the holocaust. It sounds to me like you need to have a better understanding of the history of it as well!

During the war the German people who lived near the concentration camps were aware of what was going on and did nothing...they didn't speak out to try to stop what was going on. At the end of the war Eisenhower had his troops go to the nearby villages and forced the people to walk through the camps...before the remains of the dead were removed from the gas chambers, and before the POWs were led away. He wanted them to see what the results of them keeping quiet and shutting up were.

If you are offended by us speaking out I am sorry but I am even more offended by being referred to even generally as a Nazi....it is more offensive than joking about anyone's mom (which I would not engage in) or making "dirty" posts. If you do it again...please think about this first!!!!

You're a good kid and I enjoy chatting with you. Please don't take this as a rebuke. I'm just hoping to give you some food for thought.
