    Ad-blocking software

I just got a router and networked the computers in my house. What is the best ad-filtering software to put on the computers? I hate ALL ads, but especially Banners, Towers, and *arg, stream blowing off* POPUPS. Flash ads are incredibly irritating. NOTE THAT I AM ALSO USING NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2001 AND @HOME.

I heard good stuff about this: http://spywaresucks.org/prox/

well, in your windows directory, there is a file called "HOSTS" (not "hosts.sam"). This file can rerout domains to an ip that u specify. I compiled a list of common ad domains, and I barely see any ads. Check it out:
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 ads.msn.com
    127.0.0.1 adex3.flycast.com
    127.0.0.1 ad-adex3.flycast.com
    127.0.0.1 view.avenuea.com
    127.0.0.1 servedby.advertising.com
    127.0.0.1 media.fastclick.com
    127.0.0.1 img.napster.com
    127.0.0.1 global.msads.net
    127.0.0.1 exitstitial.gopher.com
    127.0.0.1 server2007.virtualave.net
    127.0.0.1 ads.web.aol.com
    127.0.0.1 popup.msn.com
    127.0.0.1 ads.x10.com
    127.0.0.1 a1964.g.akamai.net
    127.0.0.1 sprfetch.about.com
    127.0.0.1 adpop.theglobe.com
    127.0.0.1 adcontroller.unicast.com
    127.0.0.1 sprinks.about.com
    127.0.0.1 media.admonitor.net
    127.0.0.1 commonname.com
    127.0.0.1 popup.zmedia.com
    127.0.0.1 search.sprinks.about.com
    127.0.0.1 www.burstnet.com
Just append this to your HOSTS file, and enjoy!

I already did that. I want a cleaner solution. BTW, my host file is about 3 times the length of yours . That sounds so wrong, somehow.

Other than hosts blocking, what about Proximitron?

Just wanted to say that your link (Proxomitron) is a good one from what I hear also. That little program does so many things.

    spetnik -

This little tip of yours sounds good. Does it stop both Ads and Popups?
