calling all winsock experts

Ok, I am a seriously new vb programmer, and I have commited to getting an instant mailing progrma to my bosses desk by next friday. It needs to run in the background and every couple of minutes send a text email (containing the ip adress of my laptop and the date/time of the mailing)to a specific adress. I know i want to use the winsock control, but I dont know how. I have seen some basic code on the forum here, but I am not certain about how to fill it out/get it working. I need to find someone who can make me some source to stick into the program. The source will require a server allready defined. Are you doing a program let the user get hold of the dynamic ip address automatically thru email??
