SSRS 2008 Configuration Problems - XP
I have an issue here which I think is a combination of a bad configuration and towering incompetence on my part.
I'm trying to set up the SQL Server dashboard reports so that they can be viewed via an intranet site. I'm running Windows XP, I have both SQL Server 2005 and 2008 (R2) installed locally, and I'm using SQL Server BIDS 2008 to work on these reports. They're working fine within BIDS itself, so I now want to deploy them to a test web server. Unfortunately, I've got no idea how to do this.
I decided to follow the instructions I found here and here, but I've fallen at the first hurdle because I'm having trouble with SSRS Configuation Manager. When I open it, I'm asked to provide a server name and report server instance. However, when I put in the name of my local SQL Server instance (MachineName\MSSQLSERVER2008) and press "Find", I get this error: "Report Server WMI Provider error: Invalid namespace". I've found a couple of websites that purport to address this error (eg http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960374), but they all refer to Vista or Windows 7. I've tried to follow the instructions for fixing it, but to no avail.
As an alternative, I've tried to point directly at the test web server, but all I get then is "A connection to the computer cannot be established".
Anybody fancing giving me a slap around the head and explaining in very simple terms where I'm being stupid?
Thanks...
