    fire from ice????

do you really think it's possible,

i watch the Edge last night,
and the guys suggest that make a fire with ice was possible,

he said, you take the ice in your hand, you melt it like a
lens, and then use it with the sun to start a fire,

it's a good idea, BUT is it possible, the ice would melt with the sun before it start a flame!

    what do you think??

The radiation from the sun (which is what you are lensing and creating the fire with) should pass through the ice without losing much energy at all, as long as the ice is good and clear. Ice usually melts due to heat it absorbs through conduction with the air (which gets to the ice's surface through convection), which makes the melting of the ice almost entirely dependent upon air temperature. So as long as you are in a cold area (and you probably are if you can pick up ice off the floor ) you shouldn't have any problems with the ice melting prematurely.

But then the ice would melt and put itself out.

    that's what i tought too,
if if it's really cold outside, and the sun is shinny,

you would problably have time to start a flame,

i would like to try it!!

Well if by ice you mean frozen water then simply extract the hydrogen with a solar powered hydrogren extracting machine, place in a high pressured chamber and stand back

Water is produced by Fire! Surely you cannot reverse the process. What are you thinking of, using great pressure and heat? Someone might get hurt!

    2 solutions:

    1 Sun + Ice = fire
2 ice = fire (with help of equitment)
    how?

    whats water made out of
    2 hydragens and 1 oxygen = H20 = Water = ice..

    due to pressure
if the water is boiled at a certain temp, it will eventually seperate hydrogens and the oxygens

oh what happens when you seperate the 2?, well one is a gas, the other is a lit match, boom ,
    fire,
    that was a easy one

    Lightbulb

I believe what the original poster was saying is that if you had ice shaped like a lense, could the sun shining through the lense start a fire.

Not, could you light a cube of ice on fire.

    Could just be me though

    i work for umm myself
    consulting
and i am a full time student
    thats about it

actually i kinda have shifted my mind from that benz
    its way to expensive
and second, either am gonna be guarding that
or am gonna be driving it (where i live it will get stolen)

    so my second option is
    buy a honda prelude
    all features
    30k
spend another 15k souping it up
