What is it with Florida? I lived there for five years, and it was a truly weird place, but there have been some very strange stories coming from that state of late. Using a bb to fire a cartridge isn't that bad an idea, in theory, though it appears that the guy didn't think through the role of the chamber in the whole firing sequence. Still, it was Florida...again. It's right up there with the guy eating the mans face, the guy dying from choking on bug parts, and Jacob Roman.

At the end of the article it states "There was no report on the squirrel’s condition."

Now that you have a Glock you'll have to upgrade to a protestant's car!

Although that sort of incident is usually an example of gross police corruption,
for example there have been recent reports of Harley Davidson Bikie gangs such as the Bandidos cultivating and infiltrating the police force,
which is then a case for IID (Internal Investigations Division)!

These days now that "The British Royal Family is financed mainly by public money" it seems to have lost much if not all of its relevance!

In Blackadder it could only be a pun, although I guess he could have got it a different way if the following is actually true:

"Technically, the Queen still owns the sturgeons, whales and dolphins in the waters around the U.K. A statute from 1324, during the reign of King Edward II, states, "Also the King shall have ... whales and sturgeons taken in the sea or elsewhere within the realm." This statute is still valid today, and sturgeons, porpoises, whales and dolphins are recognized as "fishes royal": when they are captured within 3 miles (about 5 km) of U.K. shores or wash ashore, they may be claimed on behalf of the Crown."

BTW, Glock is pronounced G-lock (Gee-Lock). As in, you should have said, "I went dun got me a gee lock!"

A box of $14 .22 is now $37 at Midway. And it's still on back order... It's not so much the cost, but the fact that you can't get ammo when you want it. Bullets are reasonably plentiful (for my caliber), but primers and powder are a dead loss. Guns aren't hard to come by, even AR15s, but they end up being an expensive club without ammo. Which reminds me of Boris the Blade from my favorite movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX0MB7pJtKs (Caution: volume down, NSFW, there's a swear word )

The next gun I am looking to buy is a S&W M&P 15-22. The only problem is that these are backordered as well the the ammo for it is backordered as you said. I am considering just starting to find .22 and buying it now so when/if I can get the gun i will have a stock pile of it.

In what country?? We can speak hick pretty fluently out here, but we don't pronounce it that way.

Isn't that the point? If you make an expensive club there'll be lots of people wanting to join.

I bought a Taurus PT 92 Para 9 mm last night. No waiting period...just walked in, bought it, walked out with it. I did have to pass the background check though.

I was at a gun show a few weeks ago; there was perhaps 10 to 12 M&P 15-22 rifles at basically list price (as well as a Savage Arms 110BA in 338 Lapua, but that's another story). But it is ammo, ammo, ammo.

While the US gov. is 'stockpiling', it's also individuals stockpiling, too. A double whammy. A lot of ammunition manufacturers are contracted to prioritize federal orders.

You mean 'in the mag', of course.

I thought it was 15 round mags? The Beretta is 15 for the full size. Perhaps Taurus cram a couple more rounds in their magazine...

Yes magazine...the purists hate people like me calling them clips. It just depends on what you buy. I have some 30 round "mags" for my 1911 model Colt .45. It looks silly as hell but probably not if you are on the other end. But the 17 round mag came stock with the gun.

    Re: Bought my first Gun

I don't think the politicians have much to do with this, other than passing or rejecting whatever law ends up being brought up. For an issue like this, they aren't sitting around in some kind of sound-proof room making up legislation. They are all being tugged in many different directions at once. The legislation that comes out of such a scenario tends to be a bit weird. One side is insisting that they do something. The other side is insisting that they do not. A third side is pushing for a very specific kind of a thing, and you end up with some kind of compromise legislation that doesn't meet any side perfectly and isn't really a middle ground because it makes no sense.

This doesn't just have to do with legislation, as I suspect that this is one of the primary driving forces in speciation, so I think it has to do with the evolution of some types of systems over time. The legislative branch on highly charged issues is just one example of such a system, with the added quirk that an otherwise non-viable animal can result so that we can see what it looks like.

By the way, it is my understanding that Glock made an absolute killing on magazine restriction legislation. All such legislation grandfathered in existing magazines, and Glock saw the restriction coming and ramped up production. When the legislation passed, their stock became FAR more valuable than it had been previously. Therefore, while people argue one way or another about magazine restrictions, the position of the manufacturers may be considerably different from what people expect it to be. In a way, it echoes the whole drug debate: The profit on an illegal drug is VASTLY higher than the profit on a legal drug (unless you hold a patent, in some cases), and much of the legislation is written such that the increased profit is legally baked in as far as the manufacturers are concerned such that they can have the profit without the risk of doing anything illegal.

So, you might say that they bought it all, Glock, stock, and barrel.

Screwdrivers are cheaper and will get you locked up just as fast if you carry them around in public. Also, you can't build an Ikea "Liatorp" shelving unit with a Glock 40*

I forgot where I was going with this.

    * To be honest you can't build an Ikea "Liatorp" shelving unit with a screwdriver either -- it is quite beyond the wit of Man.

I can't even SAY it, let alone build it, Glock or no.

Have you ever attempted to build it with a Glock? Don't prove it wrong until it has been tested!
