Oh well, if it's published on the web it must be true

Anyone else believe this guy did all this research and converted ?

As for the prophecies, oh yeah very tough. I could say something like "The Christians will wage war in far off lands.", or "The countries of Africa will unite into a military power", both are guaranteed to be true at some stage. Both are easy extrapolations of world history.

What about all Nostrodamus's predictions about the world coming to an end last year. Now, I was asleep for quite a bit last year, and I might have missed it, but I'm fairly certain it didn't happen.

Yet, there were loads of websites quoting "proof" as to Nostrodamus's predictions....

    Post something or post elsewhere.

If you want to post some religious point of view to start a discussion, controversy, whatever, you are likely to get a lot of interest and replies.

If you search this site, you will find some interesting, intelligent, and silly arguments about theological topics.

If you are trying to preach, teach religion, and/or and get converts, please go to some other site.

Perhaps you should specifically claim that some prophecy has or is about to come true, and see what happens.

I usually do not pay attention to religious threads, but might be interested if somebody claims that the antichrist has been or is about to be elected to some high political office.

Are we going to go through this again?? Good god, I thought after mine and everyone else's attacks on this subject last time, would have kept people from starting this again. Where is Tygur he atleast puts up a good fight.

I think the people that put these posts up must like the attention or something, because there is no way anyone with half a brain would be stupid enough to keep posting religious threads. They have to know they are going to get attacked by people like me. With the exception of Tygur, after a few posts they just stop fighting back, posting, or when they do they post something stupid like a proverb. I just do not understand.

Oh Great Danzig, come smite thy religious thread posting, dumb assess.

Danzig ain't that great, I hear he's about to go mess up Dying Fetus after they were doing pretty well. Actually I heard that a while ago, it might have already happened by now.

If you meant a different Danzig and don't know what I'm on about, just ignore me

Actually I was referencing a point I made in my last post on the last religious thread.

But no I did not hear about the Dying Fetus. I know they (Danzig) are almost done with their next album (YEAH NEW DANZIG!!!) and are getting ready for another tour, maybe before the end of the year. Plus Glenn has compeleted writing all the music for Black Aria 2, which hopefully will come out middle of next year.

There is one thing you might want to know about the bible's prophesies. It fortells the rise and fall of the world powers. The last world power it mentions is the one ruling today. So if some other country rises up someplace to become the most powerful nation, the bible would be wrong. But if God comes in and destroys all the countries ruling today, you know it's right..

What do you define as a world power? In your terms it appears to be singular. There has never been a singular world power ... ever. Even when the Romans where romping through Europe, the chineese enjoyed total control over their section of the world.

As an American, I assume you are refering to America. I have news for you, you are a very small part of a much larger world. There are plenty of world powers out there, many of whom you might not think of off hand. (China, Russia, Middle East, Europe). It would take extreme arrogance on the part of a country to assume that only one country is a world power, and that it is it... jeez.

The Bible Prophecies are clear and detailed once you take
the time to study them. There are 10,385 Prophecies in the
    Bible.

I can post prophecies including future prophecies
however, a really easy way to learn them is to watch
Dr Van Impe's weekly television program. As each
prophecy unfolds he tells you exactly where you can
find the prophecy in the Bible. You will also hear world
news that you will never hear on regular news programs

4th gentile kingdom did not make it.

I knew that biblical predictions were not reliable when it was explained to me that the European Common Market was the 4th gentile kingdom built on the remains of the 3rd kingdom.

It was explained that Babylonia under Nebuchadnezzar was the first, Greece under Alexander was the second, and Rome under the Caesars was the 3rd. This was made so clear that there could be no doubt.

The beast and/or anti-Christ was predicted to come from the fourth built on the ruins of the 3rd, which was explained as the Common Market of the 20th century.

The biblical scholars who interpreted the prophecy that way obviously never heard of the Holy Roman Empire under Charlemagne, which is obviously the 4th gentile kingdom.

Since the end times, tribulation period, rapture, the anti-Christ, et cetera did not occur during the first millennium when Charlemagne was in charge of the 4th kingdom, the prophecy was obviously wrong.

If biblical prophecy could be so wrong on a major issue like the above, why give it any credit at all?

Guv, which prophecy are you talking about? The immense image or the four beasts in the book of Daniel? Or something completely different? Then I can defend it. I think you're talking about the beasts in Daniel, but I want to be sure first.

I was referring to the immense image at Daniel 2:31-45 (It's actually a huge statue of someone in nebuchadnezzar's dream). The image was made of different metals as you go from the head to the feet. The different metals represent the transitions from one world power to the next. At the feet, it's iron mixed with clay, which don't mix very well. So today we have a politically divided world, a conglomeration of many nations.

The next thing to happen is that it gets destroyed.

This is out of a book called "Daniel's Prophecy":

At the dawn of the 20th century, the British Empire ruled over every fourth person on earth. Other European empires controlled millions more. But World War I resulted in the emergence of groups of nations in place of empires. After World War II, this trend accelerated. As nationalism developed further, the number of nations in the world grew dramatically. The ten toes of the image represent all such coexisting powers and governments, for in the Bible the number ten at times signifies earthly completeness.-Compare Exodus 34:28; Matthew 25:1; Revelation 2:10.

Now that we are in "the time of the end," we have reached the feet of the image. Some of the governments pictured by the image's feet and toes of iron mixed with clay are ironlike-authoritarian or tyrannical. Others are claylike. In what way? Daniel associated the clay with "the offspring of mankind." (Daniel 2:43) Despite the fragile nature of clay, of which the offspring of mankind are made, traditional ironlike rulerships have been obliged to listen more and more to the common people, who want their say in the governments ruling over them. (Job 10:9) But there is no sticking together of authoritarian rule and the common people-no more than there could be a uniting of iron with clay. At the time of the image's demise, the world will indeed be politically fragmented!

    10,385?

The Bible Prophecies are clear and detailed once you take
the time to study them. There are 10,385 Prophecies in the
    Bible.
Where do you people get numbers like this?

How many pages are in the bible? It there are 1000, then you are talking about more than 10 prophecies per page.

I down loaded the American Revised Version of the bible from some site. The file is 4, 486,219 bytes long including spaces between words and overhead for line, chapter, & verse numbers.

If each prophecy requires 200 bytes including spaces, that is 2,077,000 bytes or 46% of the text. When I had to read the bible in Sunday School 100 or so years ago, there seemed to be long stretches of text without a prophecy.

You people must just make these numbers up and assume that nobody will question them.

Whenever I hear a number bigger than 50-100, I try to break it down. It is amazing how many times the break down indicates a made up number. Examples.
    • Wilt Chamberlain claimed in his biography that he had sex with 50,000 different women. That works out to about 24 per week for 40 years, and I do not think he was 50 years old at the time. Even for a celebrity that is a bit much.
    • A non-celebrity made a more modest claim in an Ann Landers column: Only 10,000 different women. That is a little less that 4 per week from age 15 to age 65, which is a lot much for a non-celebrity, but might be plausible for a celebrity.
10,385 bible prophecies strikes me as another made up number.
