A boot-up error
The other day I was installing a new PC I received the following error while booting up the PC:
"Error - Keyboard not attached"
"Press F2 to continue..."
umm....

Sometimes it is connected and a key was just held down. It is still funny.

Not too stupid.
The message is not as stupid as it sounds.
It merely means that the BIOS did not detect a Keyboard and is waiting to see if you can fix the problem, usually a loose connection. Sometimes the problem is a transient one.
The Bootup process loops waiting to see if it can recognize an F1 signal, indicating that there is a keyboard available.
If you forgot to plug your keyboard into the PS/2 connection, turn the system off before pluggin it in.
I think it is safe to plug in the connection at the keyboard itself if there is one.
If your Keyboard connects to a USB port, it is safe to plug it in without turning off the power.

Re: Not too stupid.
Actually, I tried that... and it still didn't work, it was a faulty motherboard from Aopen. Anyway...I always thought that keyboards can only be attached when the computer is off. When you take out/in a keyboard when the computer is on, it makes this irratating beep in a continous loop.

Monday Morning Lunatic
DIN connections are okay, PS/2 won't work and runs the risk of blowing a chip through static (the Arabella graphics chip on the original Acorn A310 could be destroyed this way by connecting/disconnecting the monitor while it was on).
