Resolved [RESOLVED] Will VBForums allow me to change my Display Name?

I hadn't realized that I've had an account here since 2008 until I went to sign up using an email address that had already been used. The problem is: The username on that account hasn't been a name I've been called SINCE 2008.

How can I change it? CAN I change it?

You can't change it. Many have asked, including me. I would have used the simpler name: Shaggy, which I have used while hiking for decades prior to joining this forum. Unfortunately, somebody registered with that name, made no posts, and then never returned. So, while I may be known by the name, I'm not quite registered with the name.
    My usual boring signature: Nothing

OK... I marked this thread as "Resolved", but technically, it isn't. Should it be changed?

You only have 8 posts....if you want to change your account name, create a new one, with the name you wish, and don't use this account anymore.

(I moved this from Chit Chat to Forum Feedback which is a more appropriate location for your question)

We don't change IDs/names unless there is more of a legal reason. For example, if someone uses an email address as their ID, we'll change that.

If we agreed to let people change names, we'd need a fulltime person managing the requests. Additionally, there would be people who constantly change their name for the sake of changing it, which would counter one of the benefits of community - building relationships with others.

Sorry guys. I know it seems like no biggie to let people update IDs; however, it ends up opening a can of worms. Been there. Done that...
