    Unhappy Windows Search Companion

The Windows Search Companion seems to have thrown a bit of a wobbly on my office PC (running Windows XP). Searching for files that contain a word or phrase returns exactly the same results as using the "All or part of the file name". As a result, I can't search the contents of anything - even straightforward text files.

Helpfully, Windows Desktop Search simply doesn't return anything at all.

Anyone got any bright ideas on how to fix this?

Try to rebuild the search index catalog.
Control Panel > [If in category view then select Performance and Maintenance] > Indexing Options.
Click Advanced and then click Rebuild.

BTW, update to Windows Search 4 if you haven't already done so. It's more stable.

Thanks, Stanav. I've kicked that off, so I'll see how it pans out.
