just an idea!!...that would help everybody!!

It would be a good thing if somehow when some1
got the question anwsered, that some1 could click on something,
and on the thread list you would see that their ?? had been
    answered,

the reason why i saying this, is because most of the time when
i'm looking to anwser ppl question, i'm looking for the 0 or 1 replies, but maybe some1 had 10 replies and never got their question anwsered,so if something would tell us that their ? is
still unansered, i would give it a look!!

    what do you guys think!!

That makes sense, because when looking for posts to answer, you usually look for 0's or 1's. 10 replies assumes that their question has been answered. But it might have not.

I think we already campaigned for this one and failed, although John didn't rule it out in future versions of vB.

As I've raised this a few times over the last year with no success (even with everybody supporting the idea last time) I'd like to say hear hear!

I think it is a good idea but as Parksie mentioned, John hasn't ruled it out in future versions.

Yonks ago I asked for a "search for posts with zero replies" and didn't get anywhere. That's got to be even easier to implement

This would not be any use now though because people tend to reply to posts even if thsy don't know the answer....

Extremely true. Exactly why I suggested what I did, as I was/am fed up with asking a question and getting 1 or 2 replies saying "Sorry I don't know".

I only tend to reply with "I don't know" if the thread's been there a couple of days, just to ensure that they don't think they've been ignored. I try to give a few pointers wherever possible.

After a couple of days you get resigned to the fact it's not going to get answered anyway, so thats not too bad.

What gets me is when you get people answering like that almost straight away. Also "Try www.Microsoft.com" or answering a question I don't recall asking as they have not read it through properly.

I will unashamedly admit to pointing people to MSDN on many occasions, because I feel that making them browse through it is more beneficial to just handing them the answer on a plate. Also, I have the Platform SDK installed here, so I can't easily get the direct links, although I can say "go to the CoInitializeEx" function. The thing with MSDN is that you find out a LOT just by accident when you're after something else.
