Uhm... he doesn't mind you advertising in chat, ya moron. He (and many others of us) don't like it when you advertise in a help based forum.

Also, I don't know if you've noticed, but no one is using Napster, why would they use your clone?

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but the only reason why that is is because they have FILTERS!

The client is very bloated but the Qube has potential..but my new protocol has even more when it is released

Well, even though this will probably make me unpopular, I'm going to stick up for smashtheqube.

Firstly, it's blatently obvious that a hell of a lot of hard work has gone into the QubeNetwork Products (which I am going to download tomorrow), and the QubeNetworks website, which I must say I am very impressed with. Even more impressive is the fact that this was all done by a 13 year old. OK, maybe some of smash's advertising has been obtrusive, but hey, kudos to the guy for designing such great stuff at 13!!!

Smash, I have a few pointers for you..

Firstly, I would like to see an installation package as an option for your products. I don't like trusting my computer security to an invisible installation process.

Secondly, Sun Cobalt, who happen to be an extremely large corporation, have a web server product called the Qube, which unfortunately is also trademarked, meaning that you are infringing on that trademark, and liable to possible prosecution.

See here for details of the trademark..

Shout at me if you want, people, but I think smash is doing a damn fine job, and should be given a bit more respect and credit. Kudos n' Props to ya, Smash

We won't hold it against you, but this product is just as illegal as Napster, so I don't understand why.

I haven't actually looked at the product, so I don't know how good it is, but if a 13 year old wants to stay ahead of the curve, I suggest making a Java port. VB is a good (in some respects) priming language. Now it is time to cut your teeth on something more.

Well, Matthew, sorry to bust your bubble, but I do not think about sex all of the time. It is just not my number one priority. But, when I was a teenager it was basically the only thing occupying my mind. I guess my priorities in life kind of change, huh?

The trouble is, you come on too strong and it annoys people.

Wynd says that you had 2 users; that suggests that your advertising is not working.

I posted a thread once and only once in the ASP forum for a silly game I wrote. The link lead to an ASP page which asked for a username and password and then downloaded an exe. I didn't bother making a complete set-up pack because I was just testing a concept and consequently I think several people couldn't actually run it.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that I had 24 people try it...

This is why there isn't a lawsuit against this, yet. Once it becomes "as good as" Napster, it will be shut down.

And as much as I may hate the RIAA, it is their copyrighted material that you have built a press for. I don't blame them one bit for wanting to shut down Napster.

Uhm... yes... GAIM, Gnutella, ICQ, IRC.

Your messenger, what is is compatible with? Your file sharing protocol, what is it compatible with?

Do what NAPSTER, MSN, ICQ, and AOL do: Get a corporate investor to pour a couple mil. into an advertising campaign

    QUIT THE SPAMMING...

...all you will achieve is a resentment against you and people will
deliberately avoid using your programs - no matter how
good/****e the programs may be. This is not the way to become
recognised as a good programmer - people will just think you're
an egotistical little brat. Judging by posts on this board, that is
happening. Presentation counts for a lot. Something you'll
discover when (if?) you grow up. I'm with ©¿©¬ on this one.

Many posters have made constructive comments and you clearly
    believe you know better.

Oh and if you must have such a long signature, may I suggest you
keep it for the first post on a thread and then leave it out in any
    subsequent posts.

    Sorry!
    Cool, You're learning!

Advertising is one thing but spaming is wrong. End of story.

But please do something about you're signature -please,please,please,please. I think you'll find theses smaller gestures and taking on board other peoples' constructive
criticisms will endear you to the other members of this board.

    Time for a chill pill

Goto http://www.bcentral.com they have a free program called LinkExchange in which your ad gets added to a pool, and your ad gets displayed on other sites based on how many of their ads you display. Also, goto http://www.download.com and submit your program there. I submitted my app (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0...st-7-1.3892968) and have had almost 30,000 downloads!!! Also, CNet has a rating program which lets people rate your program. Additionally, you may want to give users access to other Napster/Gnutella servers. This way the first few hundred users will be able to find files too.

Yes, Tripod took down my site for "violation of rules".
*takes Tripod management, lassoes them around their necks, hang them by their balls with fishing hooks, and yells for the millionth time that "MY SITE WAS A @#$%in VB SITE AND HAD NO ILLEGAL ANYTHING BUT CODE SAMPLES AND TUTORIALS!!!!!!"*
*burns down tripod and obliterates their servers*

    This is so true.

    I can juggle.
If I were to juggle 3 balls in front of my colleagues in the office they'd be impressed.
If I were to juggle 3 balls while riding a unicycle at a circus skills convention no one would take the slightest bit of notice.

    You're targeting the wrong people.

The majority of programmers would think "Yeah so what? That's nothing new! Give me a few days and I could write that myself."

The sooner you realise this the better!!
