Ms Office Version
Which MS-Office version do you CURRENTLY use?
Or if you own a Company or work in a Company (size immaterial for the time being) Which Office version is used in Majority?
If you have a pc at home and you work as well then please give preference to "Work"

Re: Ms Office Version
Hard for me to justify an upgrade beyond 2003, since MS gave me two free copies.
Plus, no ribbon!

Re: Ms Office Version
I need this to be multiple choice. At home I use 2003. At work, I currently use 2010, but if you had asked about three months back, I would have said 2007.

Yeah, I use Office 2003 as well! I find it confusing trying to figure out where everything is located on the newer versions.

Re: Ms Office Version
Office 2007 along with Windows 7 came preinstalled with our new systems our organization purchased recently. So I have no options.
Earlier I was using 2003 and was content with that. In 2007 and upwards, I find it confusing to find the correct feature on the ribbons. I find it more confusing than the simple menubar & toolbar we had earlier. They should have at-least given some option to restore the old look

That may be possible, but I'm not going that route. I don't want to be left behind the time.

Re: Ms Office Version
You should have used checkboxs instead of radio buttons.
I am still on Office 2007 at work, but I run Office 2010 at home (Enterprise in both cases)
I didn't vote because I wasn't sure which one to pick.

Re: Ms Office Version
There is a mixed bag at my company....we have a little over 5,000 desktops/laptops and about third are running Office 2007 with Windows 7....another third are running Office 2007 with XP (I am in this group) and the final third are running Office 2003 with XP (Those are the groups that I know about. I wouldn't be surprised to find some group or other running Windows 7 and Office 2003 - that would be just like this company).
We have exclusively moved from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008 (maybe there is a God!) and we are being upgraded to SharePoint 2010.
The desktop/laptop community, however, remains a hodgepoge.

Re: Ms Office Version
I personally didn't find anything new since Office 2000 that I would actually use. So if the old one works, why waste the money.
I voted for 2011 at work, but at home I use OpenOffice, which does a more than good job, for free.

Only the special people ( me and my manager ) get 2007 in my office, possibly the accountant too. Everybody else gets 2003.

Re: Ms Office Version
I use Office 2002 (not even on the list) and Office 2010 equally, so it'd be nice if this was a multiple choice poll.

They do appear to support an ad-hoc sort of connectivity, but it would take time to figure it out and of course it doesn't seem to follow any normal standards:

Re: Ms Office Version
I use 2010 because that's what they had on the shelf.
I.Hate.The.Ribbon. Why, oh, why is it so bad?
But also the poll indicates 'other spreadsheet' but isn't it about MS Office? Word, OneNote (which I actually quite like - if only it didn't have a ribbon), outlook, etc.

Everyone hates the ribbon at first, myself included.
You get used to it....in fact, I had to do something in Excel 2003 the other day and could not, for the life of me, remember where anything was.

It is. Other is for all other MS Office versions + Any other spreadhseet Apps like OO.
>>>and Office 2010 equally
Do you use both the versions at home?
I still can't select "other" for Office 2002 until you change the poll to allow me to select both.
At work I use Office 2002 and 2010 equally. At home I use Office 2003 & 2010 equally, but you specifically said in the post that you're interested in what people use "at work" or for work.

I love the Office 2010 Ribbon, but whenever I try to use Office 2007 I have a lot of difficulty finding things, I doubt I'll ever get used to the 2007 ribbon. I also like how in 2010 you can customize the ribbon, that's something that Office 2007's really needed.

My laptop had the same setup but it didn't come with any Microsoft cds to reinstall the software if needed. Needless to say the option to create a backup of the system failed all because of 1 disk. Thus, I had to reinstall Win 7 afresh and use Office 2003 which, I actually prefer.

Re: Ms Office Version
The true answer is "whatever version the client puts in front of me" but I selected 2003 because that's the one I seem to end up on most. Arguably, though it's 2007 becuase that's what's on my machine at home which belongs to my company so is my "official work PC". I don't actually do much work on it though.
I'm not really sure why people object so strongly to the ribbon. It can be a bit of a culture shock at first but doesn't take long to get used to. I don't really see any substantial advantage it gives me over the old menus but I don't find it much of an obstacle either.

They charge a few dollars extra for the CD/DVD, but I think its worth the spending keeping in view that you are buying a new system. It's not included in the default package they offer. Just inquire.
The other painful way, if you want to save that amount is to download the setup from each vendor's website. The keys are usually in the package, or on a sticker on the system.
