ftp: how to do PCAnywhere

I want to be able to control a remote pc like PCAnywhere does,
but over the net. (to avoid toll calls).
Anyone done this?. I have seen some attempts doing screen capture and sendkeys.. but someone must have this all wrapped up..
Also how can I find the remote computer's IP address (or whatever I need to make connection) ?
