Re: !! About the new type of Single Language MSDN that I am making for Microsoft !!
With whatever respect I can muster for your work, and this is probably my most serious post on this thread, why do you still want to work with VB6?
By the time you are done, there won't be anyone who 'can' run your code and give you any feedback. The world will have moved on to VS2011 or maybe F#.
Switching to dotnet, you at least stand some chance, even though you may be only doing it to please yourself.

I still want to work with Visual Basic, because of the fact that it is able to do what I want it to do. Also I know how to use it, I must go back to University to learn C#, or then as someone has been able to say that now there is: F#, now...

You do know that there are books out there on C# and all other programming languages that you can read to learn, right? Also, just because F comes after C doesn't mean that F# is something new to replace C#. It's a completely different ball game, a language geared towards the functional programming paradigm.

Agreed. You really don't need to go back to university to learn .Net or C#. VBForums is among the best learning routes available for these languages... and it's completely free! Of course, you have to want to learn.

Please tell me you haven't been sitting in a cave with a Pentium MMX machine connected only to VB Forums! Microsoft has been releasing Express editions of the Visual Studio, so you can pick any Express version of the programming language of your choice. Have you been hibernating all these years?
And you don't even need books to learn anything. Nowadays that job is handled by Google. I sometimes fear that if Google were to go out of business (now that's a very distant possibility) or if our internet connection were to go down (nearer than the earlier one), today's programmers won't be able to solve many of the programming issues they face everyday. They are so much used to Google, they can't survive without it.
So if you have an internet connection you can not only download one of (or all of) the free Express editions of Visual Studio .Net but also browse enough sites to write a book about it yourself. Just make sure it's more focussed than Battle Programming.

Here's the same reply I gave to you in your other thread:
Microsoft has officially ended support for VB6 4 years ago (April 8, 2008).
You had almost 10 years to switch to .NET and now your are complaining that the VB6 to VB.NET converter doesn't exist anymore in VS2010? Well, boohoo...
Even if you could convert a VB6 project to VB.NET with VS2010.... both are two different languages and only the most basic "Hello World!" type of projects can be converted correctly. Any medium size project will generate hundreds of errors and warnings that need to be fixed. Fixing them takes often a lot more time than rewriting everything from scratch.
You can try the commercial VBto Converter, but I'm sure you'll come back here whining that it didn't convert your project properly...
Why did you buy VS2010? There is a free Express version that can do 98% of what the commercial version of VS2010 can do, which was already explained to you in your troll thread in the Chit/Chat forum.

Re: !! About the new type of Single Language MSDN that I am making for Microsoft !!
I'll also add what I put in the other thread (but only because I want to stay relevant): You would be so totally dissapointed with the converter that you are better off without it. You may be frustrated by it not being there, but that is nothing when compared to the frustration you would have felt if it HAD been there. The thing sucked. Nobody ever recommended using it for anything other than the most trivial projects, and your project isn't even close to being that trivial.
So, where does that leave you: It leaves you with less work to do, because you re-write. The reason it is less work is that the converter made such a mess out of your code that you would spend at least as much time fixing the mess, yet you would feel compelled to do so because it had done so much work that looked valuable.
What you will find out is that re-writing isn't as bad as it sounds. The forms are considerably different in .NET, but most of that is hidden from you, as it was in VB6. The event handlers look similar, and you can copy code from the old to the new. I found that re-writing a significant VB6 project took only a tiny fraction of the time that writing from scratch took, because I was a ble to copy in functions and function bodies, then turn them into working code with minimal changes.
It isn't as bad as you might fear, and is probably better than the converter would have done.

Well it's an IDE, however I scratch wrote an app, which is called: CodePad, which is the one that features only the CodeBox section of the Visual Suite's QuickDirector IDE. But then yes, I had bought the professional version of the Visual Studio 2010 edition. Also it runs pretty slow on my machine, seeing that there are so many of my projects are on it, and then they are also working in the background of the system, nearly everytime I get on the Net to do work, etc...

@ThEiMp: You bought a new VS2010 Pro Edition by taking a loan ?
You have done a big mistake !!
You should have spent that money to buy a better PC than your existing Pentium one. VS2010 would require atleast a better config to work flawlessly. Otherwise, there might be a little bit hanging or something.
See the system requirements for VS2010 Pro: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudi...m-requirements
As many of us have pointed out, the Express Edition is completely free. You could have get it freely downloaded directly from MS's site: See this page for products available for free download.... (or download the ISO of VS2010 Express Edition from here)
If you don't want the whole bundle of languages, you could only download the necessary languages.
Another thing is, Microsoft is also having another initiative called DreamSpark: https://www.dreamspark.com
They are providing some Pro products for completely free(for students and educators). I have got a copy of VS2008 Pro via this(with some other MS products too, in a DVD). You should have checked that too !!
Hope this will help you next time.

Re: !! About the new type of Single Language MSDN that I am making for Microsoft !!
I'm surprised that you took out a loan to purchase software. That's a poor use of finance. Software is not an asset — it is just money down the drain. And even if you had the cash for VS2010, why not just use the free Express Editions until you find yourself needing the whole Visual Studio? And why $5k? The Professional release with an MSDN subscription is only $2k.
Also, as far as software goes, Visual Studio is a total pig — you're going to be spending half your life waiting for it. You should have spent $1k on a new machine instead just like akhileshbc said.
Oh well, I hope you're at least having fun doing whatever it is you're doing.
