So if we want to just discuss our happening and interest or idea of direction I think they "the powers to be" want it done here.

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
Sure, but first you need to develop a flair for funky font colors and sizes to mix. Then you move to adding links to the 15 different "Hello World" quality programs you posted in the CodeBank. Finally find some annoying and irrelevant images to link to.
When it's done any thread you post in becomes so annoying and confusing to make sense of that people just go back to work instead of lingering here.

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
No, the 15 annoying programs are not a requirement. There may be some number of posts (chit-chat posts not counted) that you have to reach before you can edit your signature, and that might be in the FAQ section, but once you can, then you would do so in the User CP area. I believe dilettante was refering to people who make such extensive signatures that they completely obscure the actual post, and make navigating them painful. You will notice that he lacks a signature, and I almost do, too.

You can set your own custom title once you get either 1024 or 2048 posts. I forget which it is, but I think it's the latter.

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
Well, it doesn't HAVE to be stupid, but yeah, you have to post in threads other than chit-chat. Of course, if the posts are just random junk, both the posts and you will end up being deleted.

Wait, you forgot those sneaky signatures that tell you what OS Version you have ("Is this guy really checking my computer? How is (s)he doing that?")

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
well I need to type more instead of just reading to find my answers. I thought one of the rules was do the search thing first? Really so far I have found most of my answers in the search. But I don't get credit for searching and finding.

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
Credit? Do you get credit for posting questions that a search would have answered?
It does bring up an interesting question. Even the rankest beginner (and some can be quite rank) will either learn enough to be answering questions or quit in frustration, long before they get 2000 posts. So, has anybody ever reached the Power Poster level by just asking questions?

Re: friends of the VB nebie thread
You would get more "credit" by correctly answering others questions.
Post replies to questions in technical forums with smilies n such and you could get labeled as a spammer or post***** which if not restrained or corrected could get you in to a not so good position with the mods lol
