Re: in need of a name
Most names I come up with involve puns of one sort or another. When it comes to names for a company, that may not be so appropriate. I'd base the name in some way off what the company does.

Re: in need of a name
Steve Jobs said "start from the generic term for something, then romanticize it", quite a good strategy. But apparently some time ago he suffered an aneurism and just started putting "i" in front of everything.
If you will be providing a service, it might be good to have a shorter name that can be used as a verb to represent using your service, like you say "Google it". It wouldn't sound as well if you wanted to say "Ask Jeeves it" or "Altavista it". Another thing is to avoid names that can easily be misspelled. You want something that people can spell easily and entere [that].com into the browser.

Make sure it isn't trademarked or otherwise copyrighted. Would really bite if company took off only to be sued for infringement of some sort

Oh, here's another thing to consider....
Spell out your company name completely as it would appear in a .com URL. Don't want to go and have to rename your company later due to embarrassment.
True story. A site I used to frequent was called Experts Exchange and their url was, as expected, expertsexchange.com. However, depending on how one could read it, it could be interpreted as ExpertSexChange.com. So they have since renamed their site: experts-exchange.com
Reminds me of a funny SNL skit mocking Jeopardy game show. Contestant: Alex, I'll take "The Rapists" for $500. Alex: That's not "the rapists", it is "therapists" !!!

Also reminiscent of a UK story where the town council of S****horpe got all incoming mail blocked by the profanity filter on its email server.

Mash up prefixes from an animal, a flower, and an ocean:
Duck, Rose, Atlantic -> Ducrosat
Pig, Tulip, Pacific -> Pitulipac
Snail, Daisy, Indian -> Snadaisin
Wolf, Sunflower, Atlantic -> Wolsunat

Re: in need of a name
So a set of the right four letters, even if they are embedded in the middle of a string, will trip filters? That kind of suprises me. The word isn't bad, it's the four letters, in that order and consecutive, that is bad.
