Oh ok. Yes that is a good question. Sometimes i too would like to
learn more about the theory of design in general. I think that's what i liked most about COBOL. It forced you to concentrate on program design rather then getting caught up in technical aspect
of a programming language. But as we all know there is only so much you can do with COBOL.

some info
hey liz,
sorry for getting back to you late. I had a hectic week and all. Well lets start with the websites:
Here are some of the websites that i came across while doing a search:
1) this has a good introduction on object oriented programming. It goes over the basics and concepts.
http://catalog.com/softinfo/objects.html
2)next site goes over the practical aspect of using object oriented programming(using java). It provides good amount of source code and etc(like vbsquare.com does:P)
http://softwaredev.earthweb.com/java
3) this is off the sun tutorial site:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutor...page-spotlight
4) this a forum similiar to Vbsquare.com:
http://planetsourcecode.com/PlanetSourceCode/
5) Here is a site that came across tonight. I haven't looked it at much:
http://javaboutique.internet.com/tutorials/
This will get u started on the websites. I will get you more info on the books at another time. Hopefully before u can go through the websites.
