Excel Starter Edition
Hi all, I have an application that has been happily loading Excel files using the late binding method (due to the client having different versions of Excel throughout the organisation).
However one machine only has Office 2010 Starter Edition installed, and the below code is pulling back an "ActiveX can't create object" error.
oXL = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Does anyone know what I should replace "Excel.Application" with for Excel Starter Edition? I'd assume it would just be the same but apparently not!
Thank you.

Re: Excel Starter Edition
can you add a reference to it?
starter edition may not be a com object model, in which case automation is not possible
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next
dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part
come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed

Re: Excel Starter Edition
Hi westconn1, thanks for the reply. I can't reference it, however I also can't reference Open Office, but I understand this can still be automated via VB.net 2010?
I was initially surprised that you can't automate Office Starter Edition, but thinking about the fact it's free, I quickly changed my mind!
