Re: Need your opinion about this model (laptop)
I had an HP laptop. Died of a motherboard problem HP knew about but did not inform anyone about until just after the warranty expired.
Got burned the exact same way on an HP desktop.
Never again.

Re: Need your opinion about this model (laptop)
here is my opinion :
as a rule of thumb do not buy hp, theire costumer servise and quarenty are meaningless
many computer vendors have stoped working with them.
if it brakes you could end up waiting 6 weeks ir more for them to return it still broken.
in your specific link the specs seem weak, they would suffice for just browsing though.
I recommend dell (inspiron quad core) or acer
msi netbook's price is cheap
btw, this should go in the general pc

Weak for what? He can run basically any IDE or development tool out there on it (I assume that's going to be the main purpose). The only thing it might be weak for are high end games, and maybe some serious 3D modeling and animation rendering, but who does that on a laptop and a 15" screen anyway.

All in all. I mean, with the price and the features. The price is approximately 892$.
It has a 2nd Gen. Core i5 processor, 1 GB Radeon Graphics, 500GB HDD, 4GB RAM.
I'm also worried about the service.

I'm worried about the service too. That's why I'm not bothering about buying a Lenovo. I have read from certain review sites that the service centres in India are a bit dull.
You think it's not good to buy this one ?

Re: Need your opinion about this model (laptop)
I can't say, my laptop died 2 years ago with no fix except paying them more than I had the first time. The Pavilion line is for home and entertainment, not performance devices. But it was great up until it began its repeated lockups and bluescreens.
I replaced it with a Toshiba which I love except for its lousy speakers. At least it had a TWO year manufacturer warranty though, and it has outlived that.
Tech-churn is too rapid in the laptop market segment, nothing ever gets perfected before it's obsolete. I think they expect you to be buying a new one every year or two. Even automakers don't change 100% of their product lines every model year.

Ok. This Toshiba model is within that price range: http://www.gadgetsguru.in/toshiba-sa...dia-12879.aspx
That site is providing 7k reduction. So, I'm not sure what the local price is.
When asked to my favorite local vendor, they said they have only limited models of laptops in their stock. They don't collect any other models other than a handful.
I'm not sure where to look for a good review of laptops. Most of them are confusing. Some are against certain models and in another site, many will be praising that particular models.

Thats looks good. If you are going to buy don't buy online. Call the dell support and order . You will save around 1500INR from online price.

Re: Need your opinion about this model (laptop)
The price differs when you call the customer care and book the order as compared to the online price. I bought one laptop for my friend and got around 2000INR from online price.
Have you heard about XPS laptops ?

ok. sounds good.
Yeah, heard about it. It looks like have to pay about 50K for a i5 XPS !
While going through the customization of XPS laptop, I got stuck at the SolidState HDD which costs an additional amount of 26K for 256GB drive. Don't know much about SolidState drives. Have to google it.

Re: Need your opinion about this model (laptop)
I try to avoid anything with only a 1 year warranty. It indicates a lack of trust in their own product and commitment to service.

I never found a laptop model(in here) that comes with more than an year warranty ! But I think, we could extend the warranty by paying extra.
It looks like Dell is providing the facility to add upto 3 year warranty by paying about 5K (as additional), while doing the online customization.
