Google Music Beta
I don't see any difference between this and the gazzilion other offerings out there.
I can list quite a few of them too
1) last.fm
2) pandora
3) dhingana.com
4) spotify
5) grooveshark
6) rdio
So why did google decide to come up with yet another offering?

because those arent' the same thing... with Google Music, it's my music I'm uploading to the cloud... with those other services, it's their music and I can't control it.

Looks like they're giving Apple a run for the money with the iCloud or what's it called.

Which is fine by me... I'm not a fan of iTunes, so I couldn't use Apple's iCloud or what ever.
I jsut got my invite the other day... I need to get in there and start poking about, see if how it is. I know a couple people who have had it for about a week now, and they seem to like it. Haven't heard any complaints.

"Music Beta is available free for a limited time." I wonder how much it will cost?

What would that enable you to do?
You already have your music. You can listen to it anytime you want. Is putting it in the cloud going to make it more accessible? In what way?

Re: Google Music Beta
in the way that I don't need to carry it around... anywhere I have an internet browser and a connection, I can get to it... for instance, right now I carry much of it, but not all of it on my phone, since I usually have it with me, that works... but since I can't put all of it on the phone, I have to pick and choose what I want to load. But let's say I load all of my rock music, and half way through the day, I want to listen to soundtracks... with the cloud, I can do that...
