Noticed Thread That Has 1 Reply Shows 0 Replies in Replies Column
The title of this thread says it all. I just noticed this a few minutes ago. I've never seen this before. It's in the VB.Net forum. Here's the thread.
V 2010
Not a well titled thread.

Make as many mistakes as you can as quickly as you can. We want to make sure that we make a great enough number of mistakes in a given amount of time so that we can be successful.

I just saw this problem again. Replies column says 0 but there's one reply and it was made more than 7 hours ago. Perhaps when a second reply is made it will show replies like in the last case. Here's the thread.

Hello,
I can concur that this is indeed occurring.

The reply column says 0, but if you click into the thread, or click the 0 in the column, you will see that Grimfort has indeed made a reply.
I am not sure what could be causing this though?!?

I've no idea why it did that. Very odd. It shows '1' now, but.......
If we see this happen again, I'll push the techies onto it to see if there is a bug.

I can't remember offhand but I think this is by design — the views and replies columns are built every few minutes rather than on every page view.

I talked to Heidi. She indicated that the CRON jobs are set to run hourly. This means counters might be a little off for up to an hour.
Did someone say they were seeing issues that lasted longer than an hour?

>>>>Did someone say they were seeing issues that lasted longer than an hour?
I ran out of patience after 20 mins so I am not sure whether it gets updated after an hour.
However, even if it gets updated in an hour, then there is no way one can tell if the increased view count consists of my viewing it as there is a huge possibility of someone else viewing the thread in one hour.
Like I said earlier this is not that important.

Look at my post #4. It wasn't updated after 7 hours in that case. I was posting at 9:59 AM and the reply that wasn't showing was posted a little after 2:00 AM as I remember.
It does have some importance because it's good to give everyone a reply who is looking for an answer to their problem. If a reply has been given but it doesn't show then that's not good. So it does have some significance otherwise why have a replies column at all.

Heidi was doing some log tracking and such. She was going to monitor this and see if anything shows up.

Re: Noticed Thread That Has 1 Reply Shows 0 Replies in Replies Column
I've been watching for it again and I haven't seen it. It seems that it only happens every so often. The quickest way to check is look for a thread that has 0 replies and then click on the 0 in the replies column. That takes less time than opening the thread. As far as I'm aware I've only seen it inaccurate when it show 0 replies and there is at least 1 reply but that is when the inaccuracy is most obvious so perhaps it sometimes will show 1 or more replies and be inaccurate in the number of replies.

Funny, the thread EntityX posted was one I posted in. I noticed this issue for the first time in that thread too. When I posted, something seemed to time-out before it displayed my post. Nothing really triggered the increased replying delay (my Internet was fine), but maybe that can help solve the issue. It also looks like one of the ways it corrects itself is when a subsequent reply occurs.
