It seems to have gone away now, and I am back on the forums, but just after this happened, the forums were VERY slow to load.

Gary, This has happened so many times to me too. and its still happening with me, and sometimes it gives 420, not found error too.

Like Hack said, it's only a problem if it persists. Servers have issues sometimes, sites and/or databases can go down - it's not unusual, and just like your PC, a simple reboot is often the remedy. As a user, just wait five minutes and try again.
I've had to deal with such panic from managers over this sort of thing: "the site is DOWN! OMG OMG OMG!"

Can't say that I have seen this error again since I posted.
If you are continually seeing errors like this, then do let us know, and it can be investigated.

Those errors happen from time to time and when they do an email is sent out to the appropriate people.
