Re: Super Size Me
Yeah, sure. Next time I need something I'm going to a shaman or a tribe's whitch doctor. Or maybe Rasputin can give me some of his magical white powder that turned out to be Aspirin or whatnot.
Colleges in US are overpriced, I give you that. But all that is not really the problem. People are the problem.
Again, yes, you can learn on your own, but you have to want to learn. You have to have a very strong interest in the matter to do it, and on that level. And you have to be smart. Lets face it, not everyone is smart enough for everything. People today have way to high opinions of them selves and way too high expectations. Not everyone is cut out to be a doctor, a scientist, an economist etc. Someone has to be a factory worker, a welder, a driver... But no. You keep telling your kids "you can be anything you want to be if you set your mind to it". No you can't! What you just did there is set your kid up for a lifetime of unhappiness because he/she will never achieve what you told him he can. And somehow it's shameful today to be a blue color worker. Everyone thinks of themselves as future millionaires, they just didn't get their break.
I'm sorry but that's how the world is. Only about 3% of people attending college actually have the desire to learn on their own. A lot of the rest probably don't even know what they want out of life.
