That wasn't Sputnik, that was Mir.

Mir isn't orbiting the Earth either. They crashed it into the Pacific a long time ago.

That wasn't very nice of them. They "deorbited" Mir March 21, 2001. Sputnik 1 was launched October 4, 1957
Sputnik 1 burned up on 4 January 1958, as it fell from orbit upon reentering Earth's atmosphere, after travelling about 60 million km (37 million miles) and spending 3 months in orbit
It was just 84 kg or 184 pounds.

I was thinking about Mir when it came to earth. It was 129,700 kg or 285,940 lbs. That's a big chunk of stuff. I imagine they made an effort to splash the debris in an area of the Pacific that is free from shipping and probably used satellite imaging to monitor the area that they predicted the debris would fall into.
Image of Mir breaking up.

This got me thinking about the destruction of the Columbia. Could you imagine being the crew on the Columbia when you realized the shuttle was disintegrating around you and overheating. Not a fun thought.

Well it's 130 odd tons of very thin aerospace quality aluminium and polystyrene. It's like a very expensive box of confetti.
I don't live here any more.

I'm not seeing an n-tier architecture there.
That is your problem.

n-tier is not compatible with binary compulsion

Well, you should install the Binary Compulsion Regulator
