Thread: VB 6 ocx-components

    Thank you for your help in advance:
    The VB 6 on my pc throws up a terrible error messag whe I try to select components
    from the project menue
    error messge it gives is "System Error &H80000402 (-214746262). No such interface
    is supported"

    Also when I look into the components box there are no components listed at all, its blank.

    I've seen this problem happens a lot of times. This is because comcat.dll has been replaced with an older verion. If you reinstall VB (or Visual Studio), the problem will be fixed.

    Of course, you can do it manually, but it is a pain. Comcat.dll is constantly beeing used by windows. You would have to unregister this DLL, then reboot your computer to DOS mode, then copy new DLL over the old one (assuming that you have new version of that DLL handy). But I think the first solution would be a lot less painful.
