Change Audio Device in Windows 7

Hello, can anyone help me discover a WinAPI for changing the audio device through code?

I dont want to get the window handle and manage it that way, I want to do it all behind the scenes.

I've watched what happens to the registry as it is all changed, but im sure there is no way I can alter it.
