to java or not to java

right now in sydney sun microsys is putting fifteen AU$9000 scholarships to the table to students doing IT courses in high schools...now I think I've got a nice chance (though on the sheet it says preference to females), but the Java course at Sun is going to go for the end of this year and the whole of next year, which is my last year of high school (the year I do my uni entry test) so is it worth giving this a try?

Okay, I don't know about how it will interfere with your senior year, but it will probably look really good on your applications if you keep your grades up.

Java is a very good thing, go for it.

    Stay away from C#.

The people responsible for C++ are looking at doing a C3.

If that is where the money is, then go for it. I personally wouldnt touch java with a 10 foot pole, but thats just me. But it you have the opportunity to learn for it from professionals, go for it man.

Well that wasn't the only preference, they also preferred people in the western suburbs.

Now even though I'm male, and live in the eastern suburbs I'm going to try!
