vb6 and Windows 7 Compatability
Hello.
I heard many moons ago that vb6 would not be compatible with Windows 7. And the vb6 installer does warn about this when installing to Win7.
However, ALL of my vb6 apps seem to work fine under Windows 7 and all of my calls to GDI32 functions behave well, too. I have no problems loading and saving projects that my apps create, so file I/O does not seem to be affected...graphics drawing, blitting, etc., function normally and without the speed penalty in vb.net.
So in what ways is vb6 NOT compatible with Win7? I am sure there must be issues, but I would like to know the details.

Re: vb6 and Windows 7 Compatability
Well, forget what you heard many moons ago because vb6 is compatible with Windows 7. Although, some of the components that vb6 have changed due to the fact that there have been changes to the operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7 that being said some of your Windows XP code may not work correctly under Windows 7 if at all. There have been many posts about that difference of using VB6 on the two operating system just search the forums.

...and did.
Curious, this oft-mentioned compatability "specter" that never appears to quite materialize. Rather like the boy that cried "wolf!"

Re: vb6 and Windows 7 Compatability
As long as you observe the caveats of Windows development there is no problem.
Remember, VB6 programs worked on XP through appcompat too. They were not native to that world either, clearest example being the XP styles issue.
These rumors get started by VB haters, often based on Microsoft saying "we have no plans" we asked about an upcoming OS. Sheer FUD.

Jeez...this whole debacle set me a year behind where I would have been otherwise.
Oh well...no one said life is fair.

Exactly why I object so strongly to those spreading such FUD around here.
