I am 19 years old. I have set out to finish my quest for 3d game so It can be on my portfolio as a completed project. I want to make games and or program for a living.

I am not afriad to learn or intimidated by complexity. MY question is what is the best way to get in the programming field? What language should I learn?

I dont want a 4 year college, I dont want to have to learn english science history again for like 2 years before I even learn my major.

I would like to just take special credited classes to teach me exclusively what I will be doing in my programming field.

I really want to act soon. I wouldnt mind learning c++ as I read it is much faster and more encompassing than vb. But again should I learn the .NET c or the older? Is .NET the future? Should I even hold off and wait for all this new technology to come out at the end of the year.

I dont know what the best thing would be to do. All I know is I love making video games, I a fast learner, and a proficient programmer. When version 2 comes out, you can see that is only 4 months of directx and 5 in vb6, didnt know anything before then. And all this is done in my spare time between 55 hours of other secular and religious obligations.

So any comment appreciated...

That's true here as well. You wouldn't believe it, but the national telecom company, which holds at least 50% of all ADSL users in the country, issues it's subscribers a Huawei wireless router. They changed the default password for accessing the router, probably to prevent users from messing up any settings, but, they left the wireless port running completely open, no encryption, no MAC filtering, nothing. Entire cities are virtually free internet hot spots. And it's not something they did in a bunch of cases, it's in every case and they've been doing it for years, and it's going on still.

I'm amazed that nobody answered. That older generation must have been a bunch of monastic prudes. These days, you can't post much of anything in CC without getting a load of responses. They won't be useful, of course, but you would still get a load of them.

Say for instance he wanted a job at ISP and didn't get it, how exactly do you propose that he will provide their services for free then Moti ? (if you do not get this reference then you obviously have not read Moti's book yet and you really should)

After I read moti's book and started laughing uncontrollably, my family members took me to a doctor.
I gave him the book to read and now the doctor is dead from laughter.

His family is suing me.

In summary, the book makes a great weapon and so if you do want to destroy a business, all you need to do is convince the owner to read that book.

In all seriousness damasterjo, I think a good portfolio of own creations weighs heavy if you plan on working in the game development field. Learn to use the Unreal SDK for instance. Being able to create something impressive that utilizes the unreal engine isn't easy, but I bet alot of companies value that skill.
