    Getting REAL ?

    Hi
What are your thoughts about REALbasic ?
I just installed the "try" version n I noticed that shape/line controls have also more events, for example they can trap mouse move envents which is very cool !

    Regards H.

I was never a fan of the product, though I haven't looked at it again in the last 5 years. The IDE seemed clunky, the documentation was awful, the programs seemed buggy, and it didn't support a lot of things well (probably because of its Mac origins?).

It might be better now. I'd look at other alternatives though if your goal is multiplatform programming.

Jabaco is free and more VB6-like to me.

Is there any way you can convert a Jabaco bytecode app into a native executable file?
Since I discovered Delphi and Lazarus, VB has become history to me.

VB 2010 Express is free, just register it with your name and address.

No, the whole point is to create Java executeables, so you have the same problems as with Java (or .Net, which follows a similar model).

    Think p-code.

All three are more suited to in-house rather than commercial development.

Most of those who are going to drink that Kool-Aid already have faces that show it by now.
