Audio Project
Since i have a lot of time this summer, i am planning on working on a multimedia audio project. Below are the outlines for this project:
-Play Mp3's, Wav, Midi, and CD Audio tracks.
-Write and Vew the song tag.
-Visualizations
-Download Cover Art, Audio Information, Artist Bios from server
-Organize the Music within defined folder(s)
-Make Playlist
I was just wondering what others think of this project and if they think this would be useful. Also was wondering what other options the program should have? and also what a good name would be? Thanx for the help!

I think it's a very worthwhile project Any project is good if you learn from it
A thing to do is, when you've got the basic framework, look around to see what gripes people have about WMP7, and then make sure they're catered for in your program

So what problems are there with Windows media player?
ALso i want this to be a good program that i can distibute and people willl use so if it can't compete with software like wmp7 that comes with computers then is this worthless?

Well, that word beginning with M and ending in T
I don't have it installed at the moment (using Winamp) so I can't really tell

Hrmmm, I was just going to post a request similar to this one
What language would it be written in? C++, right? Well, I am a beginner and would love to have lots of practice. I always hated using those players from the web, because they look realy cool, but I wanted to have my own.. Anyways, I would really like to help you on this(I am also on linux, and learning how to proram c++ on it, so it could be ported Of course, I might need to do some research and to get help from the web, but I will do my best to help Tell me what you think

I'm currently doing just the same thing, I've got some functions in my app, It plays mp3, wav, midi, avi...
It has a slider (not fully functional just now...)
It is going to have a playlist, ID3 tags & skins
I'd be happy to work with you in the player.
I'm using vb6

When ever WMP7 doest have the codec for what you are trying to play, it says it will download one for you automatically. So far, i have never seen it do this. It just seems to saying something like "connecting to server" or something like that for about 20 minutes and then says "unable to download codec".
