"Thread Resolved" checkbox
I was thinking that it would be helpful if there were a "Thread Resolved" checkbox that the initiator of the thread could check when his question is answered to his content. Then, instead of posting a new question, one could search through all the "Resolved" threads for answers.
What would be really neat is some icon viewable in the main forums that would tell people whether the thread has been resolved. That would make it easier on people trying to help (i.e. you can spend more time helping than looking through a thread to see that it has been answered) others.
Just a thought; I'm curious to know how much work this would be. I know next to nothing about programming on the web, so I really wouldn't know...

We discussed something similar a while ago: John reckons that would take a major re-write of vBulletin or something ;(

What about doing something like prefix the subject with "Resolved:" ? How hard would that be? The initiator of the thread hits a button for the thread to be resolved, and that is prefixed to the subject.
Alternatively, one could change the icon for the thread from whatever the initator picked to a new "resolved" icon. Would that be hard?

Well I (and many others) thought it was a great idea. Maybe just "Resolved" written in front of the subject wouldn't be too hard...best see what John says.

The other thread (at least another thread) about this is http://161.58.186.97/showthread.php?...light=answered
Maybe either the image change or a prefix of RESOLVED: would work, and then later on in the search box one could specify to search for resolved threads on a question, before posting a new one.
Just my $.02

Well ...
Yes, we had discussed this point much before, when the forum software was in beta stage. And John said the development team was busy stabilizing the beta and would consider this and other suggestions after the beta was stable.
Maybe now.

You should now be able to edit the thread subject by editing the subject for the first post in a thread.
Hope this is better than nothing

Well ...
John,
I think previously if the author edited the first thread, it didn't change the title of the thread. I just checked out your suggestion and it does change the title of the thread.
The suggestion is certainly better than nothing, in fact it's the simplest way out. But I am doubtful how many would go back to edit the first post and change the subject.
Anyway, there is a way out, so we should stop complaining.
