Object name for Windows Live Mail
I have a macro that creates emails. It uses Outlook ala.
Code:
Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
OutApp.Session.Logon
But this Excel app will now also be used on desktops that use Windows Live Mail rather than Outlook.
I've hunted but... Anyone know the Object name for the Live Mail client? And is there a way for me to find out which one is installed?

Re: Object name for Windows Live Mail
it is easy enough to find out if outlook is not installed
createobject will fail with error
of course as windows live mail has to be downloaded the user (like me) may have chosen some other email client
i have not tried windows live mail, but if it is like windows mail in vista or outlook express in xp, it is not automatable
an alternative might be to convert to cdo.message
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next
dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part
come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed
