How does GoDaddy work?
I'm asking these questions for a client of mine...
Can you use asp.net and a ms sql db with GoDaddy?
Do they make it hard to leave them?
10 years ago I took over admin control of my own website that I have with networksolutions. When I change from one isp to another I simply make my own changes to the url with networksolutions and direct it at any old server I want.
Does GoDaddy let you do that?
Do they charge you for hits?

Re: How does GoDaddy work?
In all honesty, I have never used GoDaddy.
How does that help to answer your question I hear you ask? Well, I have never used them because I heard a lot of back things about them, so I opted to go with someone else. That someone else, as recommended by our friendly neighbourhood frog, Mendhak, is SoftSysHosting:
http://www.softsyshosting.com/
I now have two sites running with them, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Their support is amazing, and they have all the options you can think of.
As for making changes to the domain settings, that really depends on where the domain is hosted. I host my domain names elsewhere, not within SoftSys, although I know you can do it this way if you want.

If we are giving recommendations of hosting companies I thought id give my two penneth. As I am normally asking the questions in this instance I can answer that I hope will be of some assistance to someone.
The Bad:
http://www.ukhost4u.com and I can't say a good word about them. The list is endless. In my opinion stay clear.
The Good:
https://www.webhosting.uk.com absolutely excellent, fast support (and I need a lot of it) with phone, live chat and the normal ticket system. Totally recommend. They are based in the UK so not sure if that is a concern to those outside the UK.

Hadn't heard of them before. Good to know, thanks!
