Re: We're doomed?
We are definitely doomed. Whether its next year, next decade, century or million or billion years. We are doomed!!!
But I'm not inclined to believe a picture that looks like the male anatomy and just "happens" to coincide with the Mayan calender. i know they were smart, but it is unlikely any human can predict doomsday no matter how smart they are because predicting doomsday can enable us to counter the threat, eliminating doomsday. Most likely doomsday will be unpredictable. Plus I haven't know NASA to often conceal important information.

By the looks of that picture, we're screwed, not doomed.

Re: We're doomed?
i personally don't believe in this, because there have been so many predictions that the world will end.. but we'll see who's right the January 1st 2013.

If Mayans were so smart how come they're extinct? They were obviously wrong, for them the world ended much earlier

Maybe they're not extinct but just left and now they are returning to give us a new calender.

I remember the rumors from November/December 1999, that the world wouldnt make it to the year 2000 and it was going to explode. It seemed to manage fine for another 10 years.

i like to follow 1 rule... believe nothing you hear, and half of what you see. after everything people tell you, most of it are lies, so i like to believe it, if i see it with my own eyes, not through a screen

Re: We're doomed?
Just out of curiosity I checked out SETI's website to see if they made any mention of what's posted in post #1. If you really want to see what's happening at their site you have to pay for a membership of one kind or another. They have a number of different levels of membership starting at $ 50 and going up.
I also tried looking up the coordinates that are mentioned in the article using the website given and was not impressed. You see a little box with virtually nothing that you can make out inside of it. I was curious as to how far away these objects are supposed to be but I didn't see any mention of it.
Make as many mistakes as you can as quickly as you can. We want to make sure that we make a great enough number of mistakes in a given amount of time so that we can be successful.
