The javascript spammers have got me, pls help

I've been caught by one of those sites that uses javascript to set your homepage, etc.

The thing now is that it doesn't wipe when I clear history. It'll come up in the address bar or in the set homepage internet options text box.

I've tried searching the windows registry and its not there, i tried a file search for file containing the url and it came up nill.

How do I get rid of this?

    Thanks in advance

You are trying to reset your homepage? I don't see what the problem is. On the first tab of the internet options box there is a blank for the homepage you want. Just type the URL in there. Sorry if this isn't what you want/are looking for, i don't really understand what you are trying to do.

In that box, if i start typing then it'll come up with suggestions. Even if my history is wiped. I dont want these suggestions coming up, they were put there by some nasty JavaScript.

Try deleting your cache and all the cookies. Click "Delete Files" and when that is done click Settings and then click "View Files." Delete all the cookies except for ones you want.

Yeah that happens to me often when im surfing through sites that i really shouldnt be on if you know what i mean. I dont see what the problem is though. Just go to tools --> Internet Options
and change it. Are you saying though that once you change it the changes are not taking affect?

No, i think what he is saying is...

If you start to type a URL in, it brings up URLs from the history. If you clear the history, it shouldn't bring them up, but they are anyway.

Check for .hta (I think that's the right extension, compiled html) files in the various start-up locations.

    Still there

    Wynd: done that
    JoshT: checked fot .hta
    Cander: not parents, girlfriend
Scoutt: already checked the registry + did a file search for all files containing the url's I'm trying to shift. What you suggested is removed by clear history anyway. And it was javascript popus that took me there in the first place. Plus is was most likely javascript that did something to make these urls not go away.

Still comes up. Any more ideas?

Right click on the taskbar and click Properties. Then go to the Start Menu Programs tab and click Clear, next to the picture of the recycle bin. Who knows, it might work

goto internet options and to the advanced tab. uncheck the inline auto complete and restart. see if it comes up. then if it don't check the box again. restart. if it still happens then I don't know what to tell you.

Personally I don't think javascript can keep going if you are not on the site anymore so javascript couldn't have done that. I also don't think it can write to your registery to keep this going. there is something you are missing and I can't think of it either.

Thats almost like the same problem i had a long time ago.
I clicked on a gif and ended up downloading an .exe to connect to some offshore porn server. The exe was in my system tray at boot up. If i tried deleting the exe it wouldnt let me.........
