Is there a tool or code that can open jpg images and auto compress them?
Hi
I wonder if you can help. I have an intranet with about 2000 photos on it. A lot of these photos were not compressed when uploaded so can be upwards of 4 or 5MB in size.
Is there a script/tool I can run to go through the directory one image by one and automatically and compress each images to say 100k or percentage of the current file size, then save and close the file with the same name?
Thanks in advance

There's a program that can do that job for you, and it's free: Irfanview. I haven't used it for that purpose myself, but I know you choose Batch Conversion from the File menu. The dialogue looks self-explanatory to me. You could choose to convert all your selected files to JPEG and set the JPEG options such as quality as you do so, so obtaining a level of compression. I'm not sure if you can compress everything to a given file size limit, but you can resize everything to a chosen pixel size.
